I really enjoyed this book! It's a keeper - will definitely read it again. I initially bought it because I wanted something "desert-ey" to read during a recent camping trip to the desert, but I ended up enjoying it way more than I thought I would. I liked the writer's narrative style, and I probably relate a little too well to the main character's desire to drop everything and just walk away from it all. It was a really fun story with some unique, colorful characters, a great description of life in the Sonoran desert, and lots of little pearls of wisdom that made me think along the way. Plus who doesn't love a story in which a burro is pretty much a central character - I love Brue!!!!!

Loved it. Being from Tucson, the setting was familiar and true to reality. I could not put it down. It is so very interesting. I found myself writing the ending the whole time I was reading the body of the book. I loved it - hope you do too.
Wasn't too sure this was going to be my kind of book at the beginning. However, it didn't take long before I was thoroughly hooked and completely involved. For me this story has had a lasting effect and I find myself still pondering and examining the experience.
Be careful not to start reading this book too late in the day or you won't get to bed at a reasonable hour, because it's one of those books that drags you in and won't let go until the end. Of course, by the time you've finished the book, you will be rethinking what's reasonable and what's not, and how you can shake up your life a bit. So what the heck, stay up late.
A fabulous read that makes us think about our own lives.
I loved the premise - a woman walking away from her life. I have often gazed at a distance horizon and wondered what it might be like to just walk or drive. No future, no past. This is an intriguing story that explores that thought, and then throws in an adorable donkey to boot.
Loved this book. I told a few friends about it the day I finished it. It takes hold of you and keeps you intrigued. Where will she land next and whom will she run into.
To me it was a modern day Odyssey, with a female protagonist. Some plot twists were hard to believe, but if you look at it like a fable, it works. I enjoyed it, but did not love it.
