I read both books and enjoyed them. The protagonist, Jack, is a sympathetic character that I liked. The antagonists are suitably insane and evil. Jack's fiance is not brave and needs his protection, which brings out his heroic nature. Well worth the money.Product details

I enjoyed the first book a lot more but the second was good as well. I am planning on purchasing the third installment because I would love to know what happens to the characters I am now invested in.

Kept me on edge of my seat...had to stop reading it was so intense....loved it
I really enjoyed reading this book. The action is fast-paced and sometimes unexpected. The characters are typical "real" people caught up in a dying nation and faced by danger on every side.

Thoroughly enjoying this series. I will be disappointed when its finished. Very intriguing storyline and loveable characters. A must read series.
This was enjoyable, a nice follow up, but a touch depressing, which is probably how things would "really" go. Still enjoyable, maybe need to take a breather from the end of the world stuff for a bit. Still worth the read, and I will continue the series in a while, gonna read something cheerful and uplifting, like The Road.
