The Unseen Luke Alistar 9781467969437 Books

Lucy can see ghosts and that is a major problem so at the age of five she gets sent to an asylum for crazy people. Her life is hard but little did she know it would get harder after her escape.

This book was depressing!!! I tried so hard to like it but I didn't even like Lucy that much and she was the main character. This was a really tough one for me to get through, I did eventually make it but I was sad throughout the whole thing.

Note: I received this book for free from amazon and I have given it an honest review.

The Unseen Luke Alistar 9781467969437 Books Reviews

I highly recommend this book. Luke Alistar spins a wonderful tale that will linger in my heart for a long time. So few characters are written so you can feel the emotions in the words. I was only sorry the book ended.

***SPOILER FOR SOME***

I felt betrayed when her family abandoned her, angry when she was tortured in the asylum, saddened by the loss of her friend, happy when she escapes, again betrayed when the other escapee wants to leave her, angry when she is raped... and so much more until it ended and I was in tears of joy and the character Lucy Satin marked a place in my heart!

I feel sorry for the others who did not read to the joyous end but judged the book based on the trials suffered before deleting it.
DO NOT OUR MOST FAVORITE CHARACTERS GO THROUGH THE WORSE TRIALS?

It is true that I got it when it was a freebie but it was not what I have come to expect free books to be!
I expected it to be poorly written or maybe leave me off wondering what the ending was so I would have to buy a series of books. It was well written and the book is an end on it's own.

I found this book to be well written, but very disturbing and difficult to read
This book was a very easy read. I read the whole book in one sitting. The characters are very interesting. The author gave this story a very unexpected twist and made this book one of the best I've read in a long time.
I looked this book up on my under the "most popular" and found this book. I admit, I was skeptical of the storyline. The basis of this book is about a girl in the late 1800's that has a rare gift of being able to both see and communicate with "phantoms" or those that have passed on but have remained attached to the world. Few people can see them, but she can.

I love a good scary/paranormal-type movie, but I wondered if I could get through actually reading about one. The most unique part of this book being the time period, and how people like this young girl are treated in an asylum.

It is sad, but each chapter keeps you wondering what will happen next on her jounrney. It was painful, full of sorrow and sadness but a decent story. You might be asking why I read it, but there's an aspect of true beauty of this girl's story, espcially the ending. It was worth the read. In fact, it was such a page turner that I finished it in two days while holding a job and being a single parent of a two year old. It's sad in many ways, yes. Think of it this way... the movie "Titanic" was never meant to be a movie with a happy ending. In fact, you expected it. But there was a genuine appeal to learning about it, the story behind it, the people, what it was like to be in that time period. You were curious enough to watch the movie. Consider this book to be similar to that, with the exception of the ending (which I won't spoil). The main character goes through a lot of pain, but the Author has beautifully crafted the characters to be memorable, to stress the importance of every human life, and the differences we all posses in this thing called life.

Learn to appreciate life, no matter what is thrown at you. This book helped me desire that more. I'll be looking at more of this Author's books for sure!
Lucy Satin has always seen things, always talked--since she was able to talk--to the wispy white spirits that floated around her. Her family, who think she's insane, take her, at the ripe age of 5 years old, to a lunatic asylum. Now, 12 years later, with the help of Takis, an altogether different sort of spirit, and fellow inmate Seth, she has escaped and is running for her life.

My thoughts Alistar has created an incredibly troubled heroine. Lucy meets with one catastrophe after another, and you will find yourself rooting for her the whole time. The ending, though, was completely unexpected, leaving me shocked and trying to puzzle out whether I liked the book or not. It's complex. I was forced to question everything I had just read. Alistar is a good enough writer to make it work. Did I feel betrayed? Definitely. My first instinct was something like Ralphie, in A Christmas Story, when he finds that his mysterious secret message from Little Orphan Annie was really a crummy commercial. In fact, while I didn't toss the book across the room, not wanting to break my , I probably echoed Ralphie's words.

However, I've continued to think about the story, the characters, the setting. So I have been alternating between liking it and not liking it, and just flat can't decide. I'm giving it 4 stars out of 5 just because I haven't been able to let the story go. That's the hallmark of a good writer and an intriguing story. I'll definitely be looking for more books by Alistar.

When l downloaded this book I thought it would be a regular horror story. But it is not. Rather it is the story of a misunderstood child. Who lives in her mind rather than the real world. A complex story but well written.
Well written, interesting, awful, full of despair and darkness and without hope. Just when you think things can't get worse, they do. And again, and again, and again. Thanks, Alistar, now I need mass quantities of anti-depressants.
